Scarness Jetty looking towards PT Vernon
The esplanade at Scarness is home to many unit developments, but at the same time is home to so many parks for the children.
Scarness Beach is sandy, and safe. A small jetty is available for fishing. Whiting is the popular choice. Tuan Tuan Creek runs into the beach at the northern end of Scarness. Originally the creek flowed overland, but was channelled several years ago.
The beautiful and shady cottonwood trees provide a perfect backdrop when using the many BBQ facilities and playgrounds along the foreshore.
Scarness also has many shops and supermarkets within a block from the Esplanade. It has it s own shopping stip along the esplanade, as was the case when it was a separate village. The newly rebuilt Beachhouse Hotel commands fantastic views over the water.
The Historical Museum is located at Scarness, as is the Bat Rookery.
The beach is very safe for young swimmers, and be on the look out for dophins, turtles or even as I saw one day, a baby dugong, feeding on the sea grass.
I considered that to be very special.
Annesley Haus At The Bay can be found in Leslie Lane, at Scarness
A very popular event that occurs in Scarness during the Christmas holidays is the Ambulance Wheel. So pull up a seat, and wander down to the front and try your hand on winning one of the many prizes on offer.
